Many image files contain metadata alongside the visible picture. This information can be useful for photography and asset management, but it can also reveal details you did not intend to share.
Common metadata fields
Depending on the device and format, metadata may include camera model, lens settings, exposure information, capture time, orientation and software history. Some photos can also contain geographic coordinates if location tagging was enabled.
Does converting remove metadata?
Not necessarily. Some conversion pipelines copy metadata, others strip part of it, and some formats represent metadata differently. A change from JPEG to PNG, for example, should not be treated as a privacy tool by itself.
Safer sharing workflow
If metadata privacy matters, use a workflow that explicitly inspects and removes metadata, then verify the output with a metadata viewer. Keep the original separately if you need the information for your own archive.
What Dimakora users should assume
Unless a converter explicitly states and verifies that metadata is removed, assume that conversion alone is not a guarantee of metadata sanitization.
